My parents bought an orchard last month about 20 minutes away. It is very exciting but the only problem is that they currently live over 7 hours from us, which makes running an orchard a bit difficult. The plan is to eventually move down here but they weren't anticipating on buying land, let alone an orchard so quickly. So in the meantime, The Stepdad is trying to figure out how to get it up and running. It is beautiful, or at least it will be. They bought it from someone who had plans to develop it for houses but, we think, the economy foiled that for him. In the meantime, the orchard has been left sitting for about four years. It is still in great shape but definitely needs some tender loving care.
Really, though, it is a win-win situation. The orchard gets someone to look after it, my mom gets a house built rather quickly because my stepdad will be too busy to build it on his own, and the stepdad gets a really cool tractor. Oh, and we get these:

On my way over now.
The orchard is beautiful. I want to live there, too!
I think the coolest part was watching how totally comfortable Leo was running around there. Bill's going to have a willing helper, no question.
