Thing #1 is making amazing progress with his language. He has multiple appointments each week that work on different aspects, such as gross motor skills, fine motor skills, sound pronunciation, and transitioning from task to task. None of this sounds like a big deal, but all of it is accomplished without me around, meaning that he is communicating the entire time with other adults who do not know "Toddlerspeak". This week, two of his teachers, independently from each other, have told me how impressed they are with him. In fact, both of them say that he has made as much progress in the past 3 months as they had hoped he would make over the course of a year. One of his teachers has started discussing how to transition him out of her service and into preschool, hoping that he may not need her past the middle of the summer.
Funnily enough, I don't think words can express how ecstatic and how proud I am about this. My little boy has gone from being a timid, quiet, isolated soul to a timid, but chatty little boy! Yep, he is still shy and introverted but he is now also hilarious. He makes jokes, asks questions, tells stories, and generally does not shut up. It is great!
