Look Who's Talking

Thing #2 has made incredible strides this summer with his speech.  He was getting so frustrated in late spring that we had his speech evaluated, just like we did for Thing #1.  I knew his issues were different than his brother's but still the end result was the same; frustration all around and mini-temper tantrums.  He barely qualified for services but I jumped at the chance anyway because they were so helpful for Thing #1.

His teacher was set up to come every other week throughout the summer and then he would be re-evaluated in August or September.  Well, his teacher came about 4 times and he was discharged a couple of weeks ago because his progress was so good.  We were at the pool one day when he said, "Daddy, more handstand."  We knew then that he no longer needed a speech teacher.

What is even better is that he is now offering little pieces of information, rather than just recounting his activities or repeating what we say.  So far, we have discovered that our dog is funny, grilled cheese makes him happy, and applesauce is yummy.

Now if only there was a way to get him to listen.
